Andreas Izquierdo: “You never really leave completely”

In *Mads Madsen Has the Last Word*, Andreas Izquierdo presents a case—as thrilling as it is humorous—centered on Germany’s northernmost detective. Following the death of his old friend Patrick, Mads Madsen receives an unusual final request: he is to deliver the eulogy.

In his search for the truth, Mads quickly discovers that Patrick was anything but the nice guy next door. A trail of secrets and lies leads him deeper and deeper into the past—and puts not only himself but also the people he cares about in danger. Help might come, of all people, from the perpetually grumpy Chief Inspector Luisa Mills, who, however, thinks Mads is a conspiracy theorist.

The reading combines North German crime thriller suspense, well-defined characters, and the question of what truly remains of a person after their death.
