Henry Günther: “TANGO NOCTURNES: Poems from Ahrenshoop”

Henry Günther presents a special book of paintings: poems meet drawings by Helge Leiberg, language meets image, serene coastal scenes meet the energy of the tango. The materials and design alone make this square book a tactile artistic experience. The “Ahrenshoop Poems” evoke images in the mind: the sea, evening light, and gentle waves become poetic snapshots. Günther describes them as love poems—tender, intense, and closely tied to the landscape of the artists’ village.

Helge Leiberg’s tango drawings complement the texts with bold black and red brushstrokes. Movement, melancholy, and a quiet atmosphere enter into a dynamic dialogue. The reading is an invitation to experience poetry and visual art together.
