Lost in the Stars – Piano Concerto for Two Grand Pianos

With “Lost in the Stars,” pianist Ulrike Mai and pianist and composer Lutz Gerlach invite you to an extraordinary piano concert featuring two grand pianos.

The program bridges musical worlds and eras: classical masterpieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, Frédéric Chopin, and Claude Debussy meet jazz by Dave Brubeck, songs by Kurt Weill, and new interpretations of Coldplay’s music. The result is a varied concert evening that blends classical elegance, rhythmic exuberance, poetic soundscapes, and familiar melodies.

Playing together on two grand pianos, Ulrike Mai and Lutz Gerlach unleash the special power of four-hand—or rather, two-piano—performance: finely tuned dialogues, virtuoso passages, and an intense shared sonic experience. “Lost in the Stars” is a concert for lovers of classical music as well as for anyone who wants to be inspired by musical crossovers between classical, jazz, and pop.
